“…and there was a new voice which you slowly recognized as your own, that kept you company as you strode deeper and deeper into the world, determined to do the only thing you could do–determined to save the only life you could save.” from The Journey by Mary Oliver

I decided that I would start a blog in 2017.  Why not?  Many people have them and I like to write, so why not, indeed.  What I hope to share in the days ahead are things that aren’t rants, ravings or diatribes. We get plenty of that already.  Rather, I’d like to use my words to encourage others in ways that help us live into who we are created to be.  Imagine how different the world would be if we spent more time building up instead of tearing down?

As I said in the beginning, I am a reverend and serve as the Minister with Children and Families at Central United Methodist Church in Asheville, North Carolina.  Before going to Central, I served as Associate Minister with Grade School Children and Director of the Media Center at First Baptist Church of Asheville.

I received a B.S. Degree in Radio, TV and Film from Western Carolina University and a Master of Divinity Degree from Gardner-Webb University.  I have lived in Asheville for over 30 years, but my roots are in Surry County, Virginia and Sevier County, Tennessee.  I am the proud mother of two teenagers and a sweet dog.
